...the US premiere of my music theater piece "9.11 -- The Witness" which will take place at the Yeshiva University Museum Center for Jewish History in Manhattan.

This performance is a part of the grand opening of a major exhibit of new Russian art "Remembrance: Russian Postmodern Nostalgia" featuring Komar & Melamid, Natalia Nesterova, Grisha Bruskin and others -- the pride of Russian and international fine art today.

This is a one-woman show that tells a very personal story of an American singer, Suzanne, who's life and perception changed because of what she saw and experienced in New York on September 11, 2001. This production, first presented on September 11, 2002 in Vienna theater "Metropol" to universal acclaim, features unique video footage by Igor Nourgaliev and is based on the accounts of many witnesses of the Attack.

The star of the original Vienna production, Suzanne Carey, is also playing the title role in new York. Book & lyrics by Dennis Kozeluh, director -- Jesse Webb. We gratefully acknowledge support from the Austrian Cultural Institute New York and Swanee Hunt Foundation.

Excerpt from Sergei Dreznin's interview to the Associated Press:

"I'm drawn to the strength of the human spirit against huge obstacles Š We're used to disasters in Russia. It sounds weird, but I felt at home on Sept. 11. It was the constant fear and uncertainty - the feeling that everything was out of control. I hope the events, and this musical, will broaden American minds and not narrow them."
